Catching Up - Hello Monday

It's been a while since I've linked up with Lisa from Lisa Leonard Designs for Hello Monday. But it was such a great holiday weekend - so I've got some things to share with you!

Hello 8 days left!

I know, I sound like a broken record, but I want to remind you about my Dad's campaign on IndieGoGo. The money isn't just going to the development of Smart Spot, it's going to help keep the doors open to Make-It Manufacturing. The past few years hasn't been nice to him, to put it nicely, and we need your help! This is a great way to get some Christmas shopping done (for only $25!!) and to help out the small guy!

Hello super chilly nights! We've been enjoying having a real fire place to keep us warm. Actually, Kona enjoys it the most.

Hello pie making and See's Candy Chocolate Turkeys! Thanks Grandma Ellie! We celebrated Turkey day last Saturday with Sam's parents, and spend actual Turkey Day serving food at a women's shelter. We're very thankful for a safe place to live, and wonderful family to spend time with.

Hello to Kona photo-bombing our pictures!

Hello to hockey season! Go Ice Jacks!

Hello to warm afternoons in the woods. When's the real winter weather going to get here??

Hello to long walks over the holiday weekend, and realizing that swings make me nauseous. I never thought that day would come!

Hello to candy making and new traditions with the Heffelfinger family!

Hello to being proactive with our Christmas cards! We're almost done, just waiting for our new return address stamp that Sam ordered for me for an early Christmas gift! Thanks baby!

Hello to Christmas tree cutting permits, a freshly cut tree, and shiny new ornaments to adorn our naked tree.

And lastly, Hello to Sam and I being goofy.

Follow me on Instagram, I'm LeahHeffelfinger!

PS - HUGE Congrats to the newly engaged couple - you know who you are! We're so happy for you and thank you for letting us be a part of your special moment! Woot woot!

Hello's and Workout #2

Linking up with Lisa from Lisa Leonard Designs (...FYI if you're wondering what to get a certain someone for Christmas, her jewelry, particularly, her new line of Gold, is to DIE FOR.)

Hello to birthday manicures! Left Hand.

Right Hand. Poo. I know ya'll wanted a close up of my dry cuticles. Sorry.

Hello to sleepy puppies and new friends.

Hello to quality outdoor time with the Hubs.

Hello to gifts from a wonderful friend and photographer.

And Hello to workout #2.

We did this workout on the BOSU this morning, but you could easily do it with just body weight. And sidenote - if you're looking to build a home gym, I cannot say enough good things about the BOSU - it's great for balance (core strength), stretching, stabilization, and cardio. It will whip you right into shape, and you really don't need any other equipment!

Warm up:

1. 3 Plank to sumo squat jumps - hold a plank, then jump into a super low sumo squat, as if you were about to catch a football, then quickly jump back to the plank.
2. 10 squats standing on the BOSU
3. 20 second plank with hands on the BOSU
4. 30 second mountain climb with hands on the BOSU
5. 40 cherry pickers sitting on the BOSU

Do 1 and 2, then 1, 2, and 3, then 1,2,3 and 4, and finally, 1,2,3,4 and 5.

3 Minute Cardio/Strength:

Do each exercise for 30 seconds, repeat 2 times for a total of 3 minutes.

1. Push ups with hands on the BOSU
2. Superman with flutter kicks on the BOSU
3. High knee run or run on/off the BOSU

5 Minute Cardio:

Do each exercise for 30 seconds, for a total of 5 minutes.

1. High knee run or run on/off the BOSU
2. Alternating right/left lunges with front foot on the BOSU
3. Mountain climbers with hands on the BOSU

Core Strength:

1 Minute  v-up hold
1 Minute superman hold

Repeat the 3 Minute Cardio/Strength, 5 Minute Cardio, and Core Strength exercises 2 times for a solid 40 minute sweaty workout!

Happy Monday!

Pumpkin Cookies and other things

Saturday afternoon I spent a few hours in the kitchen making some
to. die. for. Iced Pumpkin Spice Cookies.

Then I proceeded to write a yummy looking post all about said cookies. But unfortunately, Blogger was struggling this weekend and wouldn't let me post it.

Lame.

So today, I'm going to share with you my Iced Pumpkin Spice Cookies, which I stole from the ah-mazing Casey, from TheWiegand's.com! (visit her gorgeous blog!)

Casey doesn't know me, but based on how scrumptious these cookies were, I'm sure we would best friends :)

Iced Pumpkin Spiced Cookies:

You will need the following:

 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup light butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. Stevia (or 1 1/2 cups sugar)
    1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract

1. Mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, salt.
2. Mix the rest: softened butter, sugar or Stevia, pumpkin, egg, vanilla.
3. Mix both mixtures together.
4. Spoon on to a cookie sheet.
5. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.

While those babies are cooling, whip up some simple glaze.

You will need the following:

2 cups confectioners' sugar
3 Tbsp milk
1 Tbsp melted light butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract

1. Mix all the ingredients together.
2. Use a utensil of your choice to drizzle the glaze over the cookies.
3. Eat all the cookies!
